Joshua and Toni’s spring wedding at Texas Old Town in Kyle, Texas was supposed to be the kick-off of my weddings for 2020. And it was! But it was also my last before COVID-19 hit.
You would never guess that this wedding took place just two days before Austin would go into a shelter-in-place. There were no feelings of anxiety or panic — just love and excitement for the newlywed couple. Sure, I spied some extra hand sanitizer placed around the venue. But seriously, COVID-19 did not rain on the Quinn wedding’s parade.
Joshua and Toni run Mindful Puppy Training in Austin. Joshua has trained my doggie, Martha since she was 8 weeks old. He has been such a calming presence and has witnessed some of the goofier moments of my life since we brought home Martha. When he asked me to photograph his wedding, I was more than excited to get to play a part in his wedding day.
Toni’s amazing shoes and Joshua’s baller all-white suit. The wine-themed unity ceremony. Their first dance to “Golden Hour.” Toni’s heart-wrenching dance with her dad and Joshua’s line dance with his mom. There is just too much for me to talk about, haha! So you’ll have to look at the pictures to get a more full idea of just how special the whole day was.
From the florals to the calligraphy to the homemade desserts from Joshua’s family — every aspect of this wedding shined a light on Joshua and Toni’s personalities. A personal favorite of mine: The themed drinks named after their cats!
And, oh man, I still think about how much fun they had at the reception. I didn’t know at the time it would be the last time I’d be in a space filled with exuberant people dancing. I remember watching Toni and all her friends do the Tik Tok dance to “Say So” and thinking about how badly I wanted to be out dancing, too!
All three of us happen to be from the Rio Grande Valley. It was so fun getting to swap stories, favorite restaurants, and jokes about the 956.
My best-case scenario with every wedding I document is that I leave feeling like I’ve made new friends. That was definitely the case at the beautiful spring wedding at Texas Old Town. Take a look at some of my favorite moments at Joshua and Toni’s wedding.
