Lexi and Douglas’ winter wedding at Memory Lane Event Center in February 2021 was an unforgettable wedding, thanks to all the emotion, extra love, and details they incorporated into their day.
The Leonards were actually supposed to get married a week earlier, but their wedding day was postponed thanks to Storm Urie, that awful snowstorm that blanketed Central Texas with snow for days, leaving so many of us stranded in our homes. It was kind of ironic — the Leonards had made it so far without having to reschedule because of COVID-19 and taken all the steps to create a safe environment for their guests. (It was my first wedding where much of the wedding party was vaccinated!)
Despite the postponement, when the wedding day arrived everything went perfectly. The Memory Lane Event Center coordinator team did a wonderful job of making the whole day run seamlessly.
The custom-made “Mrs. Leonard” hanger Lexi hung her wedding dress on. Lexi’s grandmother’s gold necklace. The custom-made jars for their unity ceremony. Their photo-filled guestbook and all of the framed engagement photos on every table in the reception venue. And of course, the Chik-Fil-A-themed groom’s cake was a big hit, too.
First of all, there was no shortage of tears. Lexi and her mom’s heartfelt exchange while Lexi put on the finishing touches in the gorgeous dressing room. Lexi’s emotional first look with all of her bridesmaids and her stepdad — there was not a dry eye in the room! Lexi and Douglas’ tearful exchange of vows and unity sand ceremony.
I particularly felt emotional during the traditional first dances. Douglas’ family resides in Virginia and could not attend their wedding. Because his mom couldn’t attend, he danced with Lexi’s mom. It was a beautiful symbol of the way Lexi’s family has become his own since he moved to Texas. Family is so clearly very important to the two of them — when Douglas proposed it was actually in front of all of Lexi’s family.
The Leonard’s reception is hands-down one of the most fun receptions I’ve photographed. They had so much out on the dance floor, whether it be doing line dances or participating in a soul train. There was so much fun and joy in the room — such a perfect way to end an emotional wedding day. We finished off the wedding day with a breathtaking sparkler exit.
Here’s what the couple had to say about their wedding photography:
“We chose Tess with TLC Photography and she seriously blew it out of the water. She did such a great job capturing everything we asked for plus so much more! She’s such a caring, sweet, and awesome person! We will 100% be using her for all of our pictures in the future because she has definitely become a friend.”
